Kind of terrible how the final boss can be beaten in a few minutes with one sword. I figured it'd be a mix of building things to bring him down, or something else involving the new mechanics. Nope, just parry a few times followed by hitting some special areas. Really big let down considering how much you can explore + collect, only for it ultimately to be for nothing. There are much harder optional fights in the game world. In fact, I think even a Lynel is harder.
Still really good overall, but it will be nice to have a new world in the next one
+1 to that! I started Wind Waker on the Deck straight after it, and I'm loving it.
It's just too Ubisoft'y with the entirety of the world that can be explored. I'd even say it's worse in some ways. You have to traverse every single solitary piece of land, and there's way too much of it. And this time, unlike BOTW, you also have the sky + underworld. I would love a more focused game again, but I doubt it'll happen.
I felt the same as you guys above, until I forced myself to do 3-4 hours. After that I fell in love and consider BOTW to be one of the best games i've played. I haven't really gotten into TOTK, primarily because the performance is too shitty on OG switch... i'm waiting for the Switch 2 to play it properly...
Playing it now, what a masterpiece this is, so much better than BotW too, but ofc i have not played the entire game, just got down to Hyrule.
Love how much attention to detail it has in comparison, cattails near water (important for a flora nerd ), i went by a cave and tons of bats flew out, patrols, settlements looks cooler, lived in. Just amazing looking artistically, the use of colors. The abilities are super fun, so well thought out.
Said i never wanted to support Nintendo ever again, which is true, i don't, i hate them as a company, but at least i got a used Switch 2 which i guess is a tiny bit better. Their games are just too special to give up entirely...

I too restarted this on S2 recently and loving it, although the lack of true dungeons still leaves a sour taste (I’m just at the wind temple and it feels very BOTW’y).
Still, great game and Switch2 is how it always deserved to be played.
