The World to Come (2020)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9738716/
7/10
Good acting, and nice cinematography. The story was kinda boring.

Cronos - 7.5/10
Early Guillermo del Toro horror movie from 1993. It's slow pace was really fitting and overall a well made movie by del Toro.

The Father (2021) - 9.99/10
Well, as I've said before, anything with the great Sir Anthony gets a '9' instantly, from me This touched home, and the wife and I had been putting it off for some time, but we were itching to watch it. It is what it is, a depiction of one of the worst things a human can ever go through in life. You could be lost from the very beginning?, as the way its done is very clever, all from the mindset of the one suffering, rather than the one 'suffering', aka, the carer Brought back horrendous memories of my wife's dad and my gran, who both went through the exact same terrible disease. 5 years her dad lived with us though that great pain, and there were times when we wanted to put him out his misery. He went from being a strong minded man, to the character you now see on the screen, depicted, and excellently acted by Mr Hopkins.
Olivia Coleman is brilliant as ever, and easily gets a 10/10 for her role. So, as no movie can be perfect, then the score is as above. Covid?, ain't got a look in here, sorry, as there are more urgent things in life, that slowly, and horribly, kill one.

My brother and I have kind of a challenge where we try and find shitty movies and see how gives up first. Todays movie was among the worst i've ever seen. I have no idea what it was about and after just 2 seconds i wanted to punch somebody in the face. You might know about this youtuber and his popularity some 8 years ago or so.
Avoid this movie - i got a severe headache from watching it (even worse than Cats):
Fred: The movie - 0/10
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Nobody 7/10
Trim 4 minutes of useless footage and it'll be a solid 9.
They could have a franchise on their hands if only they didn't call it nobody. 3-4 movie franchise. Action was very very nice.

So 4 minutes was enough to lower it with 2?

Those four minutes annoyed me lol. So yes. The looping montages which were lazy imo. The character stopping to read something several times so that the audience can read it as well.
It's useless things that don't take away from the story and could have been done a bit more creatively. But they just frustrated me. Pulled me away in parts. Its just my brain picking at it. I'd love a sequel and more.

the start of nobody was pretty crappy and honestly i think saul was a miscast , too little action, poor editing, shitty music, to little background early on, also that hyped bus scene, was complete bullshit , so unbilievable i dont even know why they bothered except for maybe to have something for their teaser trailer zzz ...
cant give it a score cause i stopped watching after 25 ish minutes skipping through, didnt keep me etnertained at all

Better Call Nobody - 6/10
It didn't take long before the semi-promising revenge plot ventured into improbable territories of Saul Wickian silliness, though it deserves credits for not shying away from showing gory bits. Seeing Christopher Lloyd in this brought a smile to my face. The movie is as brainless as they come really, but still more entertaining than any of the superhero muck heaps. *it's something.jpg*

Nobody - 6/10, it's a john wick/equaliser style movie (we've had heaps of them). The plot doesn't really make any tangible sense, even worse than the Wick sequels, it's just there to drive it along.
It would be lower if i didn't enjoy Saul's performance. Considerably different project for him to take on, I think he did a good job here and looked the part for the the action scenes.

Binge watching some classic Vincent Price horror movies.
The Haunted Palace (1963) - 7.8/10
A true Roger Corman/Vincent Price classic. Based on HP Lovecraft's "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" but the movie company changed the name to The Haunted Palace which is the name of an Edgar Allan Poe poem to sneakily connect the movie to the Corman-Poe Cycle which consists of 8 movies in total, 7 based on Poe and this one based on HP Lovecraft. It's the first movie to bring the Necronomicon as well as Cthulhu and Yog-Sothoth to the big screen.
The Tomb of Ligeia (1964) - 6.4/10
Another Corman/Price movie, this time based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe. The style of the story and acting is more like it's an on-stage production with many lines sounding like Poe's darkly poetic writings but in the end this one isn't quite up there among the best of Vincent Prices movies. Quite slow at times.
House on Haunted Hill (1959) - 7.6/10
This is a well made albeit somewhat campy thriller with horror elements directed by William Castle (known for making campy horror movies in that era). The acting and settings are quite good, esp. the interactions between Vincent Prices character and his characters wife. They did a remake of this in 1999 that lacked the charm of the original.
Vincent Price movies I'm about to watch:
Mask of the Red Death 1964 - I really like this one, the atmosphere is superb and the colors in this movie makes it stunning to look at even though it's 57 years old by now.
The Raven 1963 - As with 7 out of the 8 movies in the Corman Poe Cycle it's based/inspired by a poem by Edgar Allan Poe. I absolutely love the whimsical style of this movie. Peter Lorre is great in his role as a failed wizard, Vincent Price does great as a benevolent master wizard while Boris Karloff is equally great in his role as the malevolent wizard. It features a very young 26 year old Jack Nicholson in one of his earliest feature films.
The Abominable Dr Phibes 1971 - A classic with stylistic infusions from the very early 70'ies movies at the time. Called comedy/horror, it's not laugh out loud comedy, instead it's more of a general lightness within the horror story. Some great weird scenes.
Dr Phibes Rises again 1972 - Sequel to the first movie, same director etc.. Not as impactful as the first movie but well worth watching, esp. after watching the first one.
Movies I'll skip for now:
(either because it's not that good,I don't feel like watching a certain movie again or because it wasn't too long ago I last watched it.)
The Fall of the House of Usher - 1960
Pit and the Pendulum - 1961
The Last Man on Earth - 1964
Witchfinder General - 1968
There are more Vincent Price movies that I once had on storage but they were lost and I'll have to find them again.

Entertaining Eastwood flick, with a ''Dirty Harry' vibe to it.
