Project Cars 4 will introduce Self-Driving cars, to give that fully immersive experience without having to trouble yourself with trivial things like tire-wear, fuel-use, steering and braking.
But you will be able to buy paint and dangly things, and your dash will have a built-in music player, so you can not-race in style.

- Even with all the aids disabled the handling is more forgiving than before, with easier braking and a general drift-y aftertaste. More realistic than the woeful GRID reboob, but definitely less simulative than PC2
- The damage system is more forgiving as well, allowing for aggressive bumping around. Also, the AI has built-in rubberbanding
- The career is mostly based on short races with objectives and tuning. No tyre wear, no fuel usage, no pit stops (we already knew that), and no dynamic weather either, it's essentially SHIFT 3 under a false name
- XPee, XPee everywhere
Thank you Codemasters, very cool |
Welp...That sucks.
Sticking to Assetto Corsa, PC2, and iRacing it seems for me.

The menu is rancid. Graphics are bad; still the same engine as SHIFT/2. I mean, no TAA in 2020 let alone other "niceties" as PBR rendering pipeline or non X cardboard trees

these guys really want to be the next forza/gran turismo, they dumbed the series down for it (it was already not that great in that department).. but given the poor quality of the championships and content in the last two games, i can't imagine this being much good.

I was just too curious to test this aberration with my own hands and played the isodemo for a few races (both in Career and Custom Event mode). Even though I already knew what to expect it was still absolutely disheartening
Everything that made Project Cars 2 a rather remarkable (albeit flawed) experience to me is simply no longer there, tabula_rasa_mode. The structure, presentation, handling, UI, and AI all went through the same downgrading procedure that was prophetized by Idiocracy, what was once an elegant sim-like title is now a Fisher-Price arcade bumper-cars-like #XPallthethings clone of Forza Motorsport 7 with all that it entails, and in some ways it's actually worse than its main inspiration which takes some effort.
The physics are very simplistic, even with all the aids disabled it's impossible to spin the car (any) since there is some sort of heavy auto-steering going on and braking is overpowered in a game-y way. The collision/damage system is just gone (the only visible effect is bloodyscreensoreal when hitting the barriers ), same as all the stuff that we already knew like qualifying, tyre wear, pit stops etc. It is possible to start a custom race with dry weather and end it with the rain, but then again it's mostly a visual thing since it barely affects the handling and the tyres used are evidently of the alien type.
Not even the visuals are safe here, between the extra-colorful palette, post-processing and questionable "lighting", the game genuinely looks worse than PC2 (and Forza as well). I honestly can't find one single redeeming feature inside this cauldron of poor decisions and one thing is for sure, this certainly isn't Project Cars. Rest in pieces SMS/10
I'll just keep playing PC2 + custom liveries and the mandatory Ultimate Custom FFB mod pretending that this never existed, similarly to what I've done with many other franchises that were permanently corrupted by the derp over the years. Thankfully there's Automobilista 2 which is shaping up to be a solid alternative modern full-sim, although it still needs a ton of time and contents to really shine and beat the early access beast.

After the first race I happily upgrade the car out of the league (from E to C) and now I can't downgrade the car to compete in the E category (the only events unlocked) because there is no money to do it (costs $50 return to stock), I'm locked out to progress in the career, haha. Custom events don't give money only XP. WTF, why the game permit this? Can't sell the fucking car neither.
