Put on hold. http://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/remake-stargate-happening-know-exclusive/

Quote:
“It looked good for a couple of months, but now it’s not looking so good,” offers Devlin, guiding force of The Librarians television series, returning for its third season next week. “There are just a lot of things that have to fire at the same time, and there was a moment where I thought it was all firing at the same time, and then it all kind of fell apart.”

He attributes much of the blame to the current system of moviemaking, where everything is driven by numbers and a desire for the idea of a franchise without the same sort of attention being paid to the product itself. “It’s one of the reasons I prefer to work independently,” he says. “Listen, I think if we did Stargate right, the fans would like it and we could do something really good. But if we screw it up, they’ll reject it. As they should. But I kind of don’t want to do it if I think that we’ll screw it up, and that’s one of the things that’s holding us back.”

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

Stargate Origins will help to launch the studio’s new digital platform and fan experience, suitably called “Stargate Command.” The subscription service will be the show’s exclusive home, as well as providing fans with additional content, developed for streaming to any device — television, phone, tablet, etc.

First, the show itself: Stargate Origins is a 10-episode digital series, which will explore the untold backstory of Catherine Langford — who first appeared in the 1994 feature film and then in Stargate SG-1‘s first season. “Young Catherine embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save Earth from unimaginable darkness.”

Catherine’s character was present as a young child at the discovery of the Stargate in Giza in 1928, and she worked throughout her life to get the Stargate program going — facing numerous obstacles and international intrigue all through the twentieth century. (Come back tomorrow for GateWorld’s special look at Catherine’s life!)

Origins will fill in more of her important story, shining light on the events leading up to SG-1’s own beginning.

Ten episodes will run for approximately 10 minutes each, made to be digital-friendly and adding up to a single story the length of a TV movie. (Assuming that Catherine’s story is completed here future seasons could, in theory, explore other corners of the Stargate universe in the manner of an anthology.)

Directing the show is Mercedes Bryce Morgan, whose experience in short-form drama includes the series Virtual Morality. Newcomers Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry are writing the show for MGM’s Digital Group and entertainment studio New Form, which will produce.

That's about the same as calling Homeland S1&S2 a teen drama thriller show. While it has that annoying teen drama (that was present in a lot of shows) it's not the sum of the show.

Feel free to still find it shit though. Razz

Aye, read about it. It will have to do I guess.
Would have been nicer if they could have come back, ending of the show allowed for it. Sad

But thats the thing. The drama was the sum of the show. There was almost nothing happening.

I get that they were desperate to use a female protagonist (sad times indeed) but did they really have to pick that character to base the show on? Sounds utterly boring.

Now make that fucking SG:A movie already Sad

Stargate Atlantis was the best Stargate of them all. There was so much stuff in there on land, in ocean and in space. Also, space goth vampires as villains Very Happy

not really. low budget, shitty story and bad actors.
maybe season 1-2 but thats it.

it's like csi. the original csi was not that bad for 1-2 seasons but then it went downhill and they topped it with multiple spin offs which were even worse.

If they pull the same bullshit as in Discovery where a boring woman gets the main role even though the past series revolved around a team or a crew, I really hope it crashes and burns. Also, rather cheap to include Nazis.
