Rise of the planet of the apes - 4/10

Not that good of a movie, characters - especially the corporation men - were so shallowly presented, that it was laughable. You couldn't get more one dimensional than that. Also the massive 180 of Will's character is hypocritical at best, and was initiated by one line of his GF (which was a cliche btw). Character writing was abysmal. The story had huge plot holes, it became apparent these plot holes happened just so they could tunnel the narrative in a certain direction. (like not knowing of the kid chimp, like not turning in the chimp, once it showed superior cognitive capability, only to divulge the information later anyway).

I think it was a weak, weak film, that doesn't even come close to what it should be a what, prequel to?

Really good and solid. It's not really a spoiler saying that everyone died at the end? Laughing

Rise of the Planet of the Apes 6.5/10 - It was mediocre at best. Just was not as entertained with the whole movie as I had hoped I would be.

I enjoyed it also, same as Captain America. I rate them both 7.5, classic cheesy campy superhero flicks =) Thor, on the other hand, was egh. Potential, so much potential, let down by the butcher who was hired to deal with cutting the film --- because he cut at least an hour out of the middle. At least, that's what it feels like; half the damned film was cut from the middle making most of not make any sense.

~updated~

Just got around to finally watching The Mechanic. Bloody good film, actually! I admit I enjoy Statham's movies quite a lot anyhow, but this was so satisfying! Everything about it just clicked .. and the ending was great too. 7/10. Not fantastic, not shit, just right.

Immortals 8.5/10. It was what clash of the titans should've been. Also the R rating helps it a lot. The best parts by far are the gods kicking some serious ass.

IMO the director's goal was not to tell a great story but to have great action scenes and nice scenery. It was serviceable enough to get our hero where he needed to be, and I didnt expect anything else from a movie like this. Basically bad dude kills his mother, he wants revenge. The bad dude on the other hand wants a special bow that can unleash titans because he thinks gods are douches. See it for great action, but if you want a good story you'll be disappointed.
